Why should I buy a Service Manual ?

A Service Manual is an invaluable asset to have if your lucky enough to have one published specifically for your tractor ( not all early tractors had them) These manuals were specifically made for the John Deere Dealers with technical information that was assumed the average owner wouldn't want or need. These manuals are rather hard to find for sale due in part to their hefty size and content. (the John Deere B tractor contains over 400 pages) These manuals contain information on Crankshaft journal dimensions, Intake and Exhaust valve grind angles and tips and tricks on disassembly, and service. All subjects are covered in these manuals including trouble shooting, and diagnosing problems. The manual is considered THE source for repairs and information for the "Thinker" types answering questions about service problems.

With the explosion of the home tractor mechanic this manual is a must have, even if you take your equipment to someone else for repairs (they probably wont have one) The information included provides "Theory and operation" to help self diagnose problems not directly covered.
